MURCHIE

Raymond "Ray" Spencer. It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the sudden passing of Ray on May 12, 2013 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Ray is the beloved son of Velma Murchie of Norwich, ON. Dearly loved brother of Bill (Rosie) Murchie, Mary Anne (Dennis) Buckrell, Julia (Dave) McCallum, Peter (Ann) Murchie, and Paul (Shelly) Murchie. Fun and loving "kuncle" to Karen, Bryan (Ang), Jonathan, Aaron (Nicole), Julie (Nash), James, Darren and Mathew. Special great uncle to Abby, Jake, Peyton and Quinn. Also survived by his aunt Dorothy Williams and his uncle Bob Neil and several cousins, as well as his "other family" The Brooks' and many, many good friends. Predeceased by his father, Charles Murchie (1995)  as well as several aunts and uncles. Ray was a dedicated employee of Loblaws Distribution Centre in Cambridge. Florence Pearl Elizabeth - At John Noble Home, Brantford on Sunday May 12, 2013, Florence Cronkwright (Patience), formerly of Kelvin, at the age of 92 years.  Beloved wife of the late Harland Cronkwright (1977).  Survived  by her children George, Carol, Tom, Ronda.  She will be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Tuesday 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral service to celebrate Florence's life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Madeline - Suddenly at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday May 9, 2013, Madeline Charlton, formerly of Tillsonburg and Aylmer, in her 90th year.  Beloved wife of Lloyd.  Dear mother of Doug and wife Charlotte of Belmont, Dan of Dorchester, Jeffrey of Manitoulin Island.  She will be missed by her grandsons Robert, Andrew,  and Timothy.  Sister of Gerald Williams and wife Dorothy of North Carolina, Sheila Faragher of Naples Florida, Sharon Sanders of Stratford.  As per Madeline's wishes, cremation will take place.  Arrangements entrusted to THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, Norwich (519) 863-3020.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society or choice.

David - Passed away suddenly at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital May 8th in his 60th year. David will be sadly missed by his partner Joyce. Father of Ryan and wife Jessica of Oshawa, and Eric and wife Erin of Otterville. Dave will also be missed by Aurora, Leah, Scott, and Patrick. Dear son of Donald and Nora Mitchell of Brantford. Brother of Ronald and wife Barbara of Vancouver B.C., William of Oshawa, Robert of  Sault Ste. Marie, and Roberta May McIlvenna of Brantford. Marjorie May - Oct. 13, 1919 - May 2, 2013 - With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Marjorie May Pritchard, in her 94th year, at Sunnyside LTC, Kitchener on Thursday evening May 2, 2013.  Formerly of Waterloo, Sauble Beach, and Norwich.  She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Dillon (Gary Lorentz), Waterloo, daughter-in-law Vel Foster, Brampton, grandchildren Brenda Paoletti (Vince), Kitchener, Leigh Ann Kropf, Waterloo, Cory Foster (Cheryl), Georgetown, Sean Dillon (Catherine), Oakville, Kieron Dillon (Kim), Bryan OH, and 2 great-grandchildren Sherri Kropf and Giovanni Paoletti.  Marjorie is also survived by  sister Jean Hinks-Fleet, Norwich, and  brother Ken A. Farrell, Waterloo, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by  husband Stewart E. Pritchard (1973),  son Wayne Foster (2008),  parents Ethel (Bond) and Archie Farrell, sisters Erma Lemon and Marion Carroll, brothers Glen Farrell and Lloyd Farrell.  Marjorie was a Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star, Georgian Chapter 186 Wiarton, and a lifetime member of the former Norwich Chapter.  Marjorie will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her interest in family genealogy.  Many of us have memories of traveling country roads with her, searching for elusive tombstones.  She loved her music and was steadfast in her faith.  She gifted us with so many wonderful memories of summers spent at her home in Sauble Beach.  Visitation will be held at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020, on Monday May 6 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral service to celebrate Marjorie's life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.  with Rev. Chris Crocker officiating.  Cremation to follow, with interment at Norwich Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emily Stowe Public School - Recreation Equipment Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Cancer Society.  Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside LTC for the compassionate and loving care given to Marjorie while she resided there.

Mary Ruth (Hanmer) - The dearly beloved wife of Lewis Stienstra passed away in the Mississauga Trillium Hospital on March 12, 2013, in her 90th year. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hanmer and is survived by her husband Lewis, son Greg (Donna), daughter Carolyn Stewart (Dr. Brad), sister Clara McLaughlin (Tom), brother-in-law Albert Stienstra (Wilma), and many nephews and nieces in Canada and  USA.  Mary was born in North Norwich Township, went to public school at the Gore and high school in Norwich.  Those years she also sang with the Baptist Church choir.  She was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the Sarnia General Hospital.  She was devoted to her family and was interested in their well being.  Relatives and friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Monday March 18, 2013 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.  Funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Burgessville Baptist Cemetery at a later date, family only.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Trillium Health Partners, Burgessville Baptist Church, or Scott Mission.

MONTURE

Kenneth Gordon - 1936-2013 - It is with profound sadness that Ken's family announces his sudden passing on February 28th while on vacation in Antigua. He will be greatly missed by his lifelong (58 years) friend and wife Margaret; sons baby John (deceased), Terry and Todd; daughters Wendy (Martin), Karen (Rick) and Laura; granddaughters Sarah (deceased), Vanessa and Jasmine, grandsons Kenneth, Jeremy and Daniel. Brother in law to Linda and Jan. Uncle of Aimee (Jody) and Kyle. Great uncle of Wesley and Ryley, and many great grandchildren. In his younger years, his passion was hockey. He then spent 50 years doing what he loved the most "Working on the Railroad". Ken travelled to many areas of Canada and the U.S. for his career and made many railroad friends along the way. Helen Ann - It is with much sadness that the family of Helen Ann Hanson (nee Porteous) shares the news of her passing, after her courageous and dignified battle with cancer.  Loved by Tom for 45 years.  Devoted, caring, and loving Mom to Jennifer (John), Jo-Ann (Scott), and Justin (Nicole), and best ever Nannie, Grandma Ann and Mommila to Riley, Laurel, Tanner, Tyson, Ella, and Ava.  She will be missed by mother Helen Porteous (Brantford), and siblings: twin sister Lynn (Brian) of Waubaushene, Ken (Jean) of Brantford, Bob (Donna) of Cathcart, sister-in-law Jan of Simcoe, Kathy of Toronto, Susan (Paul) of Paris, Wendy (John) of Kitchener, Nancy (Brad) of Waterford, Holly (Steve) of St. George, James (Jill) of Brantford, and Ruth (John) of Burford.  Fondly remembered by Tom's family: Margaret (Jim) of East Oxford, Grace of Prince Edward Island, Ellen (Tom) of Scotland, Bruce of Scotland, and Marianna (Murray) of Scotland, and sisters-in-law Nora Hanson and Joyce Hanson.  Predeceased by father Edward Porteous and brother Bill Porteous.  Ann has left a legacy of her baking treats and cabbage rolls for her girls who are still perfecting the craft, and her treats were always shared with family and friends.  She will be missed as a true friend to so many.  Ann dedicated several years to volunteering for the MS Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and Cancer Society, as well as being a devoted member of Otterville United Church.  She was a volunteer friend of the Optimists and helped with several Chamber of Commerce events.  Ann sends hugs and more hugs to all who walked this journey with her and her family.

Betty - Unexpectedly at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Sunday January 20, 2013, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson, wife of the late Robert J. (Bob) Wilson, at the age of 83.  Betty is survived by her children Mary of Kingston, Tim of Toronto, Martha and husband Mike Evans of London, and Todd and wife Glenda of Atlanta GA, and was "Grandma Betty" to loving grandchildren Jeanette, Natalie, and Melissa Evans, Holly and Harmony Wilson, and Alex Wilson.  Also surviving are her brother Robert Bayne and wife Phyllis, and sisters-in-law Phyllis Patchett  and Ruth Wist.  Betty was predeceased by her parents Allan McGregor and Florence Jeanette Bayne.  Betty graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 as a pharmacist, and practiced for many years in Sarnia and Wyoming area.  After Bob's retirement, they moved to Tillsonburg in 1999.  Betty was a faithful and dedicated volunteer with Annandale House and the Helping Hand Food Bank in Tillsonburg, as well as a regular contributor to the Tillsonburg newspaper of "Bunker to Bunker", a column about the nine hole ladies golf league at The Bridges.  Betty was also involved in the Norfolk Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women, most recently as president.  Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Thursday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 48 Brock St. W., Tillsonburg on Friday January 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Leslie George - On Christmas morning, after a long life well lived, Les Buckrell, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully, at Sakura House, Woodstock.  Born in Burgessville, on Dec. 16, 1921, he left home in 1940 to join the Canadian war effort. As a dispatch rider for the 4th Canadian Armoured Brigade Co. RCASC, he rode, pushed and pulled his motorcycle throughout Europe.  He is most proud of his involvement in the liberation of Holland.  Together with Rita, his British bride, he returned to Burgessville to farm, raise a family and make a difference to every life he touched.  Les will be lovingly remembered for his gentle manner, his generosity, his smile, his sense of humour, and the way he used his many talents to make his community a better place to live.  Beloved husband and best friend of Rita (Bannister) for 67 years.  Loving father of Brian (Marie), Gerald (Aila) of Thunder Bay, Michael (Lori), Marilyn Lichti (Larry), and Carolyn Buckrell-Smith (D.J.).  Cherished grandfather of Heather Black (Richard), Karen Papadopoulos (Philip), and Gregory (Meredith); Marla (Jeff) Murray and Terra (Rob) Moquin of Thunder Bay; Andrew (Brandea) and Christopher; Eric and Jenna Lichti, Nathaniel, Kyle and Kiri Buckrell-Smith; Adoring great-grandfather of Joshua and Justin Black; Ilianna and Daphne Papadopoulos; Carver Bond, Austin and Brady Murray; Matti and Leah Moquin.  He is survived by his brother Philip, sister Joy Mather, and sister-in-law Ruby.  Predeceased by his parents John and Ada and his siblings Maurice, Fred, Wilfred, Maisie Wheatley and Maida McCutcheon.  Hearfelt thanks to the very special doctors, nurses and volunteers at Oxford Gardens, Sakura House, and Woodstock Hospital for their compassion, thoughtfulness and excellent care.  Family and friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Thursday December 27, 2012 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday December 28, 2012 from 10 - 11 a.m.  A Legion service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.  Funeral service to celebrate Les' life will be held at the funeral home on Friday December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Frederick Arnold (Ted) - Passed away surrounded by his loving family at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Wednesday September 19, 2012.  Born in Otterville, Ontario on May 19, 1926 to the late Frederick and Florence Church, Ted was also predeceased by his brother Jack Church and son-in-law Gary Volkaert.  Survived by his beloved wife Mary Margaret (Furlong).  Ted and Mary Margaret would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 29, 2012.  Also survived by his loving children Karen Volkaert, Janet Sherman, Deborah Stubbs (Bob), and Kevin Church (Marguerite), as well as grandchildren Robert (Erica) Sherman and Steven Sherman, Matthew and Brent Volkaert (Cheryl Heppner), Nathan Stubbs (Jade Houze) and Meghan (Bryan) Bari, and grandson Michael Green.  Ted was also a proud great-grandfather to Lucas Bari, Alyssa and Brooklyn Sherman, and Chelsea and Shannah-Rose Green.  Ted will also be greatly missed by his many relatives and friends.  Ted volunteered for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and served honorably until the end of the war in Europe.  He served primarily on the vessels  the "Inch Arran" and the "Digby", which were minesweepers and escort vessels in the western Atlantic.  Ted returned from the war and was soon married to Mary Margaret and started a family.  Ted worked as a stationary engineer and farmed tobacco for many years until "retiring" in the 1990's.  His retirement consisted of more time at "the farm" as well as more time fishing and furthering his interest in RC aircraft.  Ted was a lifelong outdoorsman and sportsman in the true sense of the words.  Some of his fondest memories involved canoeing in Algonquin Park with longtime friends and the times spent simply observing the beauty of nature and the wild things around him.  Ted was an honest and hard-working man his entire life and contributed to his community of Otterville most notably through his 32 years as a volunteer fireman.  He also provided many residents of the village of Otterville with a nickname which often stuck for their lifetime.  Ted was also a talented landscape painter and cared for many animals that found their way to the Church household over the years.  Friends are invited to join the family at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 for visitation on Sunday September 23, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Funeral service to celebrate Ted's life will be held at the funeral home on Monday September 24, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Otterville Cemetery.  Memorial donations in Ted's name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Marjory (nee Ronson) - At the wonderful age of 97, Marjory has gone home to be with her Lord.  It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing on Monday April 30, 2012.  Marjory was born August 18, 1914 in Houghton Township.  She was the daughter of the late Cora Edwards and Arthur Mae Ronson.  Marjory was predeceased by her husband Stanley Gillibrand, her brothers Orloff (Merna), George (Kate), and Jim.  Marjory is survived by her sister Dorothy Pilkey of Norwich and her sister-in-law Dorothy Ronson of Delhi.  She will be greatly missed by her special nieces Tammy (Gord) Day and Terry (Tim) Sherman.  Tammy and Terry along with their daughters Stephanie and Aimee had the honour of being with her as she passed.  Her humour, hats, jewelry, and determination will be missed by all the residents and staff at Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg. Reinier (Ray) - Of SpringBrook Township, PA USA,  passed away peacefully at the age of 62, surrounded by his loving family at Brantford General Hospital on Sunday January 22, 2012 after a long battle with melanoma cancer.  He will be sadly  missed by his loving companion Lenora Wilson. He is survived by his children JoAnn Tolton, Ray Kalista, Jennifer Koopman, Teresa (Lily) Doucette, and Scott Byerson.  He is also survived by sisters Johanna DeBoer (John), Hendrika Krygsman (Evert), Josina Jones (Frank), Bernadine Lowe (John), Kathleen Koopman, Elizabeth Hooper, Mary Causyn, Keri Koopman, Teresa Bakker (Brian) and Patricia Koopman,  brothers Frank Koopman (Debbie) and Henry Koopman, and step-brothers in Holland Gerrit, Bert and Willem; also by his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by  parents Frank (1982) and Jozina Koopman (1995), step-father Willem Helsloot (1997), and brother John (1966).  Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich (519) 863-3020 on Thursday  2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at Burgessville Baptist Church on Friday January 27, 2012 at  11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ralph Byma officiating.  Spring interment Norwich Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made towards Ray's medical expenses in lieu of flowers.
